Jody’s intrigue with the legal system began about the time he was becoming a teenager. He vividly recalls observing his father and uncle working to establish personal relationships with each client at the family’s law firm. Witnessing those personal connections made Jody want to pursue a law degree and follow in the family business.
After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee, he graduated in 2007 with a J.D. and M.B.A. from West Virginia University. It was one summer, in particular, that Jody knew he was on the right career path. He spent those three months working in the West Virginia office with his father and Chris Davis, who once acted as a mentor but now is a colleague, absorbing as much knowledge about the law field as he could.
Now an established attorney himself, Jody is passionate about creating and maintaining the personal relationships his family’s firm has been offering for years. He receives great reward from being in court every day and problem-solving issues in criminal cases, which is the area of law he most represents clients. These cases range from murders, burglaries, robberies, assaults, and DUIs – from the local to national level. What sets the Wooton, Davis, Hussell, & Johnson law firm apart from others is that its attorneys are also capable of handling federal criminal casework.
Jody believes that offering comfort and guidance to clients is another important aspect of building relationships. Attorneys should also provide assurance to clients that similar cases have occurred and those clients involved have pushed through to the other end.
